RESEARCH INTERESTS Analytical techniques used to characterize the raw biomass that enters the refining process. Presently in dialogue with Bonnie Hames at NREL. Many of the analytical techniques we currently use to characterize forages for ruminant nutrition are likely very similar to those needed for raw biomass. Additionally, a Near Infrared Reflectance Spectrophotometer could be calibrated for realtime assay as the biomass is fed into the refinery.
